Today I’d like to share with you a new lettering practice worksheet, filled with motivational quotes. Sort of a “life lessons” and gentle reminders list.
I previously shared a lettering worksheet with motivational quotes to stay positive during tough times and you guys seemed to like it, so here’s a new one.
This specific worksheet is also a great way to sample my 10 lettering practice workbooks. I included 10 quotes, each of them is in a different lettering style corresponding to the lettering workbooks available in my shop. This way, if you’d like to dive deeper and get more worksheets, you get to try the different lettering styles available and decide which workbook you’d like most to get (for more savings, you can also get a bundle of 5 workbooks or 10 workbooks).

Difference between brush lettering and monoline lettering
These 10 lettering styles can be divided into 2 categories: brush lettering and monoline lettering. 5 of each style.
Monoline Lettering: With this lettering style the width of each stroke is consistent throughout the letter: upstrokes and downstrokes are the same weight/width all along. With monoline lettering, you’re applying the same pressure throughout the word. Because of that, Monoline is a great lettering style to start with. You can use any Fineline tip marker or pen.
Brush Lettering: With this lettering style you’ll be alternating your pressure between upstrokes (thin) and downstrokes (thick). You need a brush lettering pen (Tombow Fudenosuke and Pentel Touch are my favorites). if you don’t want to get a brush lettering pen, you can achieve the pressure variation with Crayola Broad Line markers or Crayola Super Tips (if you like stationery items like me you’ll appreciate that it comes in a pack of 100 colors).

Benefits of hand lettering
I’ve always found hand lettering practice to be very relaxing. It helps to pause your brain and get you in a bit of a meditative state. I compare lettering worksheets a bit to coloring pages in that way.
Lettering tracing sheets are a great way to explore new hobbies or try to practice new skills. Because of its relaxing effect, lettering can be a great hobby to get into, you don’t need to be a creative genius to get started!
If you’d like to give it a try, here’s a free lettering practice worksheet with positive quotes. You can practice these quotes and recreate them in your planner, bullet journal, notebooks, or anywhere. Write them down again and again like mantras if you’d like. Whatever makes you feel good!
I love combining lettering and quotes because it makes these quotes all the more powerful.
This worksheet comes in printable (PDF) and Procreate (JPEG) friendly formats. You can download it towards the end of this page.
Here is a preview of all the quotes/life lessons included (the printable version comes with grey traceable text):
You can use these sayings to decorate your planner, bullet journal, travel notebook, or any other artistic project! Once you get better at hand lettering you’re going to want to hand letter everything anyway!
These traceable worksheets are a fun and easy way to improve your hand lettering skills. To make it more versatile, I’ve included 10 different lettering styles. You can print this worksheet or use it on your iPad with the Procreate App and Apple pencil.
